Fall plant sale at Bullington Gardens

PRESS RELEASE:

Bullington Gardens, a horticultural education center and public gardens, will hold its annual fall plant sale on Friday, Sept. 9 and Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

The sale features many fall-blooming perennials, mums, asters, shrubs and natives. Perennials will be offered at reduced prices. In addition, the event will include a gardening rummage sale with gently-used tools, yard art and books.

“Fall is the ideal time to plant perennials, trees and shrubs. The weather is cool but the soil is still warm which encourages excellent root growth without stimulating flowering that comes with spring planting,” says Joellen Johnson, a Henderson County Extension Master Gardener and Bullington Garden’s Volunteer Coordinator.

Bullington’s greenhouses are bursting with fresh fall-blooming perennials. Throughout the summer, volunteers and master gardeners nurture and repot the growing plants which minimizes root-bound conditions often found in the late growing season.

The public is encouraged to donate to the gardening rummage sale. Drop-offs will be accepted at Bullington Gardens from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., any Monday through Friday.

All proceeds from the plant and rummage sale will benefit Bullington’s mission to educate and inspire children and adults in horticulture, the natural sciences and integrated disciplines. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.

Bullington Gardens is located at 95 Upper Red Oak Trail in Hendersonville. From Highway 64, turn north on Howard Gap Road. Proceed one mile, and turn right on Zeb Corn Road. Go 2/3 of a mile and turn right on Upper Red Oak Trail.
