Flatiron Writers holds quarterly workshops for the boarder local writing community. The next one on Saturday, April 25, deals with improving public reading skills. The workshop takes place at the Unitarian Universalist Church, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Press release from organizers:

Flatiron Writers will once again sponsor the popular “From Page To Podium” Writer’s Workshop this coming Saturday, April 25, from 10am-3pm, for writers who want to improve their public reading skills of their own work. The workshop is taught by writer, coach and actor Mel Ryane, who has brought this acclaimed workshop to writing conferences throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Flatiron Writers is an Asheville writers group dedicated to supporting the broader local writing community. Flatiron sponsors quarterly workshops on subjects not typically addressed in the more academic circles of the writing curriculum. Workshops like “Creating Your Writing Life,” designed to help writers develop a sustainable writing practice, and upcoming workshops on topics such as  the legal rights of writers, and adapting novels and short stories for the screen, are a part of the Flatiron mission to  fill a niche for writers looking for support and development of their work as part of the writing community of Asheville.
