Fox News thinks our beer and food (and frog jam?) is great — cocktails, not so much

Judson Berger of Fox News visited Asheville and praised our food scene (which is “budding”), calling Chai Pani a major highlight of the trip (“a niche restaurant that specializes in Indian street food – in Western North Carolina, so go figure,” he says).

We also have great breweries (several, even, says Berger!), frog jam (jam of figs, raspberries, oranges and ginger), but no good cocktails, apparently. I personally find it much easier to find a good cocktail than this jam that we have so much of it warrants a mention in the headline … but, hey.

We’re also quirky and have a drum circle, by-the-by. Oh, and do yourself a favor. Don’t skip the RAD: Even though the “row of run-down-looking studios seems unimpressive,” it’s fine. Once the artists throw open their doors doors to visitors, “the street becomes a gallery.”

The RAD, says Berger, is “home to Wedge Brewing Company. And it’s where we had two of our best meals – 12 Bones Smokehouse and White Duck Taco Shop. Visit the former for a premier barbecue experience with plenty o’ sides, the latter for over-the-top tacos. And it’s only a matter of time before White Duck gets the Guy Fieri ‘triple-D’ treatment.” Also mentioned: Cucina 24, Tupelo Honey and more at the link.
