Friends of Community Radio files application for LPFM radio license

Here’s the press release from Friends of Community Radio:

It is our pleasure to announce that Friends of Community Radio, the parent organization of Asheville Free Media, has applied for a Low-Power FM (LPFM) frequency!

Since the early months of 2009, volunteers have met and worked to create a platform for local voices, and we now feature 41 weekly, locally-produced programs. The support of our community, underwriters, and listeners have made this possible, and we look forward to the possibility of expanding our service.

Stay tuned for more news about Asheville Free Media as we take our next steps to getting on the airwaves in Asheville!
