Pints for Prostates and Wicked Weed Brewing are collaborating on Funk Asheville: A Gathering of Wild and Sour Beers. The event will take place in Candler, N.C., on July 18. The tasting has been sold out for weeks. But, funds raised at the event are going back into the Asheville, in part through the sponsorship of a free men’s health screening that will be held on July 20 at Asheville Urological Associates. Advance registration is required. Men will be screened for prostate specific antigen, lipids, glucose and testosterone, receiving results confidentially following the event. According to the men’s health organization, the testing has a $700 value and is completely free to any man who registers for the screening event.
At other free men’s health screenings Pints for Prostates has sponsored around the country they have found men with dangerous health conditions and helped save lives. They hope to reach men through the universal language of beer in Asheville.
