Asheville Music Professionals hosts a gear repair workshop and gear swap on Friday, April 3. The free event, held at The Orange Peel, is followed by a local showcase featuring Mangas Colorado, Sidecar Honey and The Sun Cans. The showcase starts at 8 p.m., tickets are $5.

The Orange Peel is opening its doors on Friday, April 3rd from 3pm-6pm to host the latest free event organized by Asheville Music Professionals (AMP): The Gear Repair Workshops & Gear Swap.
The workshop portion will be facilitated by Sherwood’s Music and Guitar Mama and will focus on teaching attendees basic skills for instrument and equipment repairs. The event will also include a gear swap where musicians will be able to trade instruments and other musical equipment. Participants will also be able to donate gear to Burton Street Community Studio.

The workshops and gear swap is an effort made by Asheville Music Professionals (AMP), a growing 501(c)(3) in Asheville. Their focus is to connect and empower the area’s incredibly diverse music culture through educational events, networking opportunities, and advocacy. The organization has been spearheaded by prominent industry professionals that range from musicians, producers and studio managers to venues, promoters, and even executives of the symphony and opera. Friday will conclude with The Orange Peel’s Local Showcase, an opportunity for listeners to discover and enjoy the music of three up-and-coming WNC bands.
The evening’s line-up includes Americana Folk-Rockers Mangas Colorado from Cullowhee, NC; Sidecar Honey, an Indie-Rock band founded by Asheville live music staple Dave Dribbon; and The Sun Cans, a Pop Rock four-piece with a retro flare.
