Girl Scouts seek volunteers in the new year

Press Release

Pam Cook Communications, LLC

Colfax – Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont urges you to make volunteering part of your New Year’s resolutions. That’s because we have a critical need for adult volunteers who are committed to helping girls develop courage, confidence and character.
There are many ways to volunteer, but Girl Scouts are particularly in need of troop leaders. Each troop is led by at least two adults, and we especially need troop leaders who are able to meet in the evenings or on weekends. Volunteers can serve in long-term or short-term roles. They can lead a troop that meets for the entire school year, or oversee a special program that lasts for just two weeks. Training and support is available for all volunteers, and no previous experience is necessary, but membership in the Girl Scouts is required (a $15 annual fee).

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, have a love of working with young people, and can serve as a positive role model. Both male and female volunteers are welcome. Volunteers can lead troops, help with special events, serve on committees, or help out at camp. Girl Scout staff and experienced volunteers provide accessible, practical courses that make every volunteer’s time and efforts more efficient and successful. Please consider giving of your time and talents to help develop tomorrow’s leaders. And remember, volunteering is the perfect New Year’s resolution !
