“Global Climate Change: Do we need to save the world?” will be the topic of a presentation at the monthly meeting of the Asheville Jewish Business Forum on Wednesday, June 1, at the Governor’s Western Mansion, 45 Patton Mountain Road (off Town Mountain Road), Asheville.
Registration, networking and dinner will precede the program from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Drew Jones, co-founder and co-director of Climate Interactive, will begin his remarks and analysis at 6:30 p.m. A climate change think tank, Climate Interactive creates accessible, policy-maker-oriented simulations and is ranked #3 in the United States.
He will lead an interactive discussion on Global Climate Change and its everyday impact on our personal lives and businesses.
Mr. Jones recently returned from the United Nations-sponsored climate change negotiations in Paris as a consultant with the U. S. State Department. Through simulation models developed by him and his colleagues, he demonstrated “what if” scenarios to the countries represented at the negotiations.
An expert on international climate and energy issues, his interviews have appeared in multiple media, including the New York Times, US News, and National Public Radio’s “Morning Edition.” He teaches Systems Thinking and Sustainability at MIT, UNC-Asheville, and the UNC Chapel Hill’s Flagler Business School.
There is no charge for members of the Business Forum for the dinner meeting. Members are encouraged to bring one guest at no cost. There is a $15 per person charge for others.
