Good samaritans assist in assault arrest

The full release from the Asheville Police Department:

ASHEVILLE – On Saturday, 03-10-12, at approx. 11:12 pm; Officers with the Asheville Police Department responded to a report of an assault at the Orange Peel at 101 Biltmore Avenue. While enroute to the call, Communications relayed information that one of the female victims had been stabbed.

The officers arrived to find that two females had confronted a male subject that was assaulting his girlfriend. The male suspect then retaliated against the females by producing a knife. One of the females was able to disarm the male during a struggle, and both she and the male received knife wounds as a result. The male then fled south on Biltmore Avenue, and was subsequently captured on Lexington Ave. with the assistance of three ALE agents that responded to assist.

The male, 26 year old Zachary Kurt Hamilton, was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Assault on Female after being treated and released from Mission Hospital and was held under a $2,000 dollar secure bond. The female victim was treated and released for the injuries she sustained as well.
