Governor McCrory announces appointments

Raleigh, N.C. – The Office of Governor Pat McCrory announced the following appointments today:

North Carolina State Building Commission

Michael Benson (Pitt County) – Benson is the president of Pitt Electric Inc.
The commission develops procedures to direct and guide the state’s capital facilities development and management program. The term length is three years.

Historic Murfreesboro Commission

Rod Phelps (Franklin, Va.) – Phelps grew up in Murfreesboro and restores historical homes and preserves artifacts in the area.
The commission acquires, preserves and restores historic properties in Murfreesboro. Each member serves a five-year term.

University of North Carolina Center for Public Television Board of Trustees

Travis Mitchell (Wake County)- Mitchell is the president of Communities in Schools Wake County.
Doris Loomis (Buncombe County)- Loomis is an attorney specializing in estate planning and probate law.
The board reviews operations of the UNC-TV network and advises the president and UNC Board of Governors programming and operations. The term length is four years.

North Carolina Zoological Park Council

Sherry Kellett (Haywood County) – Kellett previously worked for BB&T Corporation as a corporate controller and principal accounting officer.
The council advises the Secretary of the Department of Environment & Natural Resources on concepts for the Zoological Park in Asheboro. The term length is six years.
