Hagan congratulates Asheville teacher on receiving Presidential award

From the office of Sen. Kay Hagan:

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Kay Hagan today congratulated Asheville teacher Teresa Cowan of Charles D. Owen Middle School, who was recently awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. This award is administered by the National Science Foundation on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and is the nation’s highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science.

“I want to congratulate Teresa Cowan, who received this prestigious award because of her creativity in the classroom and commitment to her students,” said Senator Hagan. “Teresa is just one example of the many excellent teachers we have in North Carolina working to provide our children with a world-class education. As a member of the Senate Committee on Education, I am committed to doing everything I can in Washington to make sure North Carolina teachers have tools they need to do their jobs and ensure our kids are prepared for the future.”
