Downtown Asheville’s Aloft hotel recently launched a rooftop live music series called Live@Aloft to benefit local nonprofits. The next performance — the second of six planned concerts — is on Sunday, June 28, from 4-8 p.m., and features sharp-dressed retro jazz outfit Hank West and the Smokin’ Hots of Asheville, who recently released their album A Message for the Yogi.

Proceeds from the public event ($5 suggested donation) benefit the Asheville Area Arts Council as it “ensures access to the arts, encourages a community passion for creativity, and successfully supports, partners, and collaborates in Buncombe County,” according to the organization’s website.

Visit Aloft’s website or call the hotel at 407-4300 for more information.

Here is the full event release from Aloft:

With the best rooftop venue in town at the Aloft Asheville Downtown, the hotel’s Sundays Live@Aloft music series continues with a live performance by Hank West and the Smokin’ Hots from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, June 28th. The event is open to the public and a suggested $5 donation will benefit The Asheville Area Arts Council.

The event, part of the hotel’s Sundays Live@Aloft music series, will be held on the hotel’s rooftop Air Level with spectacular mountain views surrounding downtown Asheville. The W XYZ bar will feature Asheville-brewed pints of beer as well as cocktail favorites. Light snacks will also be available.

“The Sundays Live@Aloft series allows Asheville locals and hotel guests to experience the spectacular mountain views of our Air Level and the delicious food and drinks from our W XYZ bar, while enjoying great live music,” said Aloft Asheville Downtown’s General Manager David McCartney.

“We are also very humbled to support the Asheville Area Arts Council this coming Sunday and other non-profits throughout the series by uniting with locals and hotel guests to give back to our community.”

The Asheville Area Arts Council is the collective voice for the arts, advancing Buncombe County by delivering resources, developing innovative collaborations, and fostering creativity in the community. The AAAC supports all of the arts in Asheville with its varied artists’ resources and connects artists with the community through exhibits and performances.

The schedule for the remaining Sundays Live@Aloft series is as follows:

• July 26th featuring HoveyKat (Ben Hovey and Kat Williams) benefiting the Asheville Humane Society
• September 6th featuring Empire Strikes Brass benefiting Mission Health Children’s Hospital
• September 27th benefiting YMCA (entertainment TBD)
• October 25th benefiting Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue (entertainment TBD)
