Healing Doll Workshop, Sept. 10

PRESS RELEASE FROM EVENT ORGANIZERS:

Healing Doll Workshop
Saturday, September 10, noon – 2:30 at the Center for Art and Spirit.

Doll making is a powerful medium for connecting with deep parts of ourselves and, in many cultures, dolls have long been used for the purpose of healing. In this workshop, you will create a small intention/prayer doll and learn a process of healing through the use of the medicine wheel – an ancient symbol of transformation – and creative expression.

You will:
~ set an intention that will guide your work
~ be encouraged to connect with your inner wisdom
~ create a simple doll to hold and represent your intention or wish
~ learn a journaling process to dialog with your creation
~ learn basic techniques for making your own healing doll

Details: No artistic background required. Plenty of materials provided, though you’re asked to bring anything that calls to come with you ~ fabric, charms, beads, moss, sticks, paper, ribbons, other things to personalize your doll. As well, you’re asked to bring a couple sticks to form the body and arms of the doll. There will be some provided, but most participants prefer to bring sticks that hold a more personal connection – from their home or favorite trail.

Please bring: journal, 2 or more sticks and embellishments

Note: space is limited for this workshop; please keep in mind that registering and then choosing not to attend this workshop means that someone else may be denied that space. If you find you cannot come, notify Our Voice as soon as possible to free up your space for another who is interested in attending.
