Hendersonville lifts water restrictions

The city of Hendersonville announced earlier today that it will lift water restrictions in place since August 5, 2015. The restrictions had been put in place due to lower than normal rainfall totals during the summer, in accordance with the city’s Water Shortage Response and Conservation ordinance.

City Manager John Connet had declared a Stage I Water Shortage Advisory on August 5 in response to low water levels in the Mills River watershed. The restrictions included  water usage advisories for residents in regards to car washes, lawn care, dish and laundry washer usage and daily household uses. The measures were voluntary under the Stage I protocol.

The restrictions were lifted as of October 28, due to a 7.75 percent reduction in citywide water usage since August, according to a press release from the city.

“We would like to thank our customers for being diligent in conserving their use of water during our Stage 1 restrictions,” says Lee Smith, Utilities Director for Hendersonville. “We are pleased to announce that we are now able to lift these restrictions.”
