Dr. Glenda Weinert will receive a distinguished award from the Irene Wortham Center for her service to people with special needs in the Asheville community on Thursday, March 19.
Who: The Irene Wortham Center, an Asheville nonprofit serving children and adults with disabilities, will be presenting Dr. Glenda Weinert with the Hartig Leadership Award.
What: The Hartig Leadership Award, first awarded in 2006, is presented by Irene Wortham Center to professionals and philanthropists who have made the commitment to better the lives of children and adults with developmental challenges in our community.
Where: Asheville Hilton Biltmore Park, 43 Town Square Blvd, Asheville, NC 28803.
When: Thursday, March 19, 2015 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Why: For the past 20 years, Dr. Glenda Weinert has dedicated her life to caring for her family, running a business and improving the lives of people with special needs in our community. Her tireless journey has been inspired by her son Dylan’s battle with muscular dystrophy. Upon seeing what was required to accommodate his needs both at home and school, she knew that others could learn and benefit from their experiences. She has focused her businesses and community work on the foundation that people with special needs deserve the highest quality care and services that can be offered.
