Jackson County shelter for domestic-violence victims closes suddenly, WLOS reports


Reach of Jackson County, a shelter for women who have been victims of domestic violence, has closed abruptly “because of money problems,” WLOS TV reports. Donations are down, and the shelter has received “irregular” payments from a state agency. Sister agencies in Macon and Swain counties are helping cover the service gap.
