Lucian Stewart represents Asheville Toastmasters Club #436 in recent Division A contest at Owen Heart Theater

Asheville, NC., —  Lucian Stewart of Asheville Toastmasters Club #436 took first place honors in the International Speech Contest at the Area Speech Competition, Saturday, March 28, at the Mission Hospital Owen Heart Theater. He also won second place in the Table Topics Division, in which speakers deliver an impromptu speech on a topic given to them by the judges.

Lucian took first place honors at the March club level International Speech and Table Topics Contest, winning in both categories.  Second and third place winners in that contest were Ryan Barrington Cox and Nick Taylor-D’Ambrosio.

“The competition has always been purely about me – challenging myself, pushing me beyond my own boundaries,” Lucian said. “The competition levels push me beyond what I get at the club level. This year my goal is to go to District in both competitions.”

Lucian went on to represent his club at the Division A Contest on April 11 at the Owen Heart Theater, where he took second place in the International Speech Contest.

Lucian Stewart and Ryan Barrington Cox competed in last year’s District 37 Competition in Greensboro, each bringing back a third place award in their areas of competition.

Asheville Toastmasters Club #436 meets every Thursday, 6:15 p.m. on the second floor of the YMI Cultural Center, 39 South Market Street, in downtown Asheville. Meetings are always free to the public.
