Mars Hill University hosts jazz festival

Mars Hill University will host a Jazz Festival featuring four local jazz bands in Moore Auditorium, on Saturday, April 25. The Festival is free and open to the public

The schedule is as follows:

10 am: North Buncombe Middle School, Mary Jo Sparrow, director
10:25 am:   Asheville Middle School, Kevin Young, director
10:50 am:  Bethel Middle School, Kevin Kimbrough, director
11:15 am   North Buncombe High School, Andrew Shelton, director
12:30 pm:  Mars Hill Jazz Ensemble, Dr. John Entzi, conductor

Bands will be judged by a panel of local music educators:

Mary Jo Sparrow, North Buncombe Middle School
Dr. Jim Sparrow, associate professor of music, Mars Hill University
Sandy Boone, Waynesville Middle School (former band director at North Buncombe High School)
Ed Keifer, former band director at East Davidson High School, Lexington NC.
