Mars Hill University to host Presnell/Hicks debate on Monday

The Mars Hill University Political Science Program will host a debate between Michele Presnell and Dean Hicks on Monday, October 13th at 7:00 in Moore Auditorium. Presnell, the Republican incumbent, and Hicks, the Democratic challenger, are candidates for the 118th district seat in the N.C. House of Representatives, representing Madison, Haywood and Yancey counties.

Questions for the candidates have been submitted by Mars Hill University faculty, staff and students. Education funding, fracking, and voting laws will factor heavily in the questions to the candidates.

Mars Hill University is a premier private, liberal arts institution offering over 30 baccalaureate degrees and one graduate degree in elementary education. Founded in 1856 by Baptist families of the region, the campus is located just 20 minutes north of Asheville in the mountains of western North Carolina.www.mhu.edu .
