Marty Stuart and Amber Hayes perform at the Asheville Fire Fighter Association benefit concert

Five time Grammy-winning Grand Ole Opry star Marty Stuart performs at the US Cellular Arena on Saturday, Sept. 7 in a concert to benefit the Asheville Fire Fighter Association. According to press, Stuart is a “country music archivist, southern culture historian, photographer, musician, songwriter, TV show host, charismatic force of nature and a country music fan.
Since Starting out singing gospel as a chile, Stuart, 54, has spent over four decades celebrating American roots music with a missionary’s zeal. His teenage years on tour with Bluegrass legend Lester Flatt in the ’70s were followed by six years in Johnny Cash’s band during the ’80s and a chart-topping tenure as a solo artist in the ’90s.

“The turn of the century saw Stuart looking inward to make deeply felt records paying homage to his love of vintage gospel, his Native American passions, and as always, his core — foot-stompin’, tail-shakin’, honky tonkin’, rockin’ billbilly music. His latest musical oeuvre is ably supported by the coolest cats in Nashville – his backing band, The Fabulous Superlatives: guitarist Kenny Vaughan, drummer Harry Stinson, and bassist Paul Martin.”

Country artist Amber Hayes also performs. According to press, the Oklahoma native “first broke onto the Country music scene after her starring role as Kathy Twitty in the 2008 Conway Twitty musical, It’s Only Make Believe. Amber released her debut EP C’mon in 2010, landing two Top 40 singles (‘C’mon,’ ‘Wait’) on the national MusicRow Country Breakout chart. In 2012, the multi-talented performer starred in the major motion picture, ‘Cowgirls N’ Angels.’ Three of Amber’s songs made it into the film, including her duet with Lonestar’s Richie McDonald, ‘Always There For Me.’ Her music was also featured in four episodes of the hit CW television series, ‘Hart of Dixie.’”
