Memorial Day concert and ceremony in Pack Square Park, May 30

PRESS RELEASE FROM CITY OF ASHEVILLE:

The City of Asheville Mayor’s Committee for Veterans Affairs will host the annual Memorial Day Concert and Ceremony on the Roger McGuire Green stage in Pack Square Park starting at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2016.

Featured will be the award winning Fort Bragg North Carolina Ground Forces Band with musical performances before and after as well as during the ceremony. Asheville’s noted choral group, The Reuter Center Singers, will also perform at the ceremony.

A Recognition of Service presentation to our Armed Forces and community first responders will be given by Buncombe County Commission Chairman David Gantt and Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer. Other ceremony participants include U.S. Army Veteran Dr. Laura Tugman and Chair of the Mayor’s Committee for Veteran Affairs, Carlos McNeil.

A commemoration wreath will be presented in honor of members of the Armed Forces and Asheville and Buncombe County emergency responders, and in commemoration of those who have sacrificed their lives in service to this country and community.
Matt Mittan, Independent Asheville Radio and Commentator of News Talk 50, 1350 WZGM, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
The public is invited.
