Mission Health named a 2015 most wired hospital

From a press release:

Mission Health has been named one of the “Most Wired” hospitals in the country, joining just six others in North Carolina and about 230 nationwide.  The health system’s flagship hospital, Mission Hospital, was recognized for the three previous years. Most Wired Hospitals focus on security and patient engagement.

The awards are presented by the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Health Forum and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives.

The survey looks at how hospitals use information technology to improve the way they perform in the area of value-based healthcare, which is focused on improving patient outcomes and the quality of care while reducing costs.  Areas measured include infrastructure, business and administrative management, quality and safety, and clinical integration.

“Information technology is crucial to safe, effective and evidence-based care,” said Ronald A. Paulus, MD, President and CEO of Mission Health.  “It is also critical to the transformation U.S. healthcare so desperately needs.  That’s why we have invested so heavily in information technology — it’s what our patients need.”

“Congratulations to our nation’s Most Wired hospitals for harnessing the potential of information technology to improve quality care and patient safety and lower healthcare costs,” said Rich Umbdenstock, president and CEO of the AHA.  “At the forefront of the field, these hospitals are setting the bar for protection of patient data through discerning security measures.”

HealthCare’s Most Wired™ Survey, conducted between Jan. 15 and March 15, 2015, is published annually by Health & Hospitals Network.  Respondents this year completed 741 surveys, representing more than 2,200 hospitals, or about 39 percent of U.S. hospitals.

Detailed results of the survey and study can be found in the July issue of H&HN. For a full list of winners visit www.hhnmag.com.
