Mission Hospital thanks employees during National Hospital week

From the press release from Mission Health:

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – May 8, 2012 – Mission Hospital is joining hospitals across the country this week in celebrating National Hospital Week (May 6-12). This week Mission Hospital is thanking employees for their continued service to the community of western North Carolina.

National Hospital Week, the nation’s largest health care event, is a celebration of the history, technology and dedicated professionals that make hospitals beacons of confidence and care.

“National Hospital Week is an important time to recognize our staff and promote our mission of improving the health and wellness of the people of western North Carolina,” said Ronald A. Paulus, MD, President and CEO of Mission Health. “We’re extremely proud of each member of our dedicated staff. They deserve sincere appreciation for the roles they play in helping achieve our BIG(GER) Aim: ensuring that each patient achieves the desired outcome – without harm, without waste and with an exceptional experience.”

National Hospital Week dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.

“Mission Hospital was recently named a Top 100 Hospital by Thomson Reuters for the fourth-straight year,” said Jill Hoggard Green, President and COO of Mission Hospital. “As a Top 100 Hospital and Top 15 Health System award winner, we demonstrated nation-leading performance both on clinical measures documenting how we care for patients and also how efficiently the hospital performed to produce those excellent results. Our staff members are foundational to our ability to consistently perform at such high standards. Their commitment to quality is unwavering and this week belongs to them.”
