Mother Earth News announces date for its annual green-living fair, April 11-12

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (Jan. 19, 2015) — Want to grow and prepare your own food, raise backyard chickens, or save money on your utilities?

 Then mark your calendar for the Mother Earth News Fair.

 Mother Earth News, the largest and longest-running publication about self-sufficient lifestyles, will hold its Mother Earth News Fair April 11-12 at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center in Fletcher. The Fair runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

 “The Asheville community embraced our event last year, and we can’t wait to return with new practical workshops as well as crowd favorites,” says Andrew Perkins, the Fair’s director.

 Attendees can attend more than 200 hands-on workshops that cover organic gardening, food preparation and preservation, natural health, renewable energy, homesteading, small-scale livestock, green building and remodeling, green transportation, and related topics. Local and national experts on sustainable and rural lifestyles will lead the sessions.

 In addition, the Fair will host children’s activities, vendor and livestock demonstrations, an alternative energy vehicle display, hundreds of exhibitors, and local and organic food options.

 Attendees can pre-order a weekend wristband pass for $20, and wristbands at the gate will cost $30. Children 17 and under get in free. A limited number of VIP lanyards are available for purchase as well. VIPs receive priority seating at workshops, catered meals and other perks.
