MountainTrue hosts first annual Mountain Brew Fest August 22

Local environmental nonprofit MountainTrue has announced they will be hosting the inaugural Mountain Brew Fest in downtown Hendersonville on August 22. The festival features more than 20 craft brewers from around the region, including Oskar Blues, Southern Appalachian Brewery and Sierra Nevada among others.

In addition to the breweries, Mountain Brew Fest will also include an array of live music and local food vendors, though line-ups for both of those have yet to be finalized.

Tickets for the afternoon event are $35 for general admission, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to support MountainTrue’s work in forest and water quality conservation across western North Carolina.

“Craft beer and festivals are a great match for MountainTrue, since brewers and beer lovers alike value and need clean water,” says the organization in an official press release on the event. “Our ever growing brewing community also relies on the visitors enjoying the area’s national parks, national forests, rivers, and streams, and MountainTrue’s work aims to protect these natural places we all share.”

The festival will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 22 and spans Locust Street and Bearcat Boulevard in Hendersonville, adjacent to the Southern Appalachian Brewery, which is co-sponsoring the festival.
