No LAAFF this year, may return in 2014

From the Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival:

Asheville’s festival, LAAFF, will not happen in 2013. We (the LAAFF Staff and Arts 2 People Board of Directors) will use the time between now & Labor Day weekend 2014 to put on LAAFF’s revival and resume celebrating the fascinating culture that exists in our city, Asheville, NC. We would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, considerations, efforts and collective involvement going into the planning of LAAFF this year, and for the past 11 years. Our community’s celebration will continue as we allow it the time to blossom and give Asheville the LAAFF it deserves. LAAFF Revival will come to Lexington Avenue Labor Day Weekend 2014.

  1. If only there were a way to take the good parts of Bele Chere (long-standing history, local music options, and sustainable infrastructure) & the good parts of LAAFF (controlled permits – i.e. no street preachin, truly local vibe, and overall more fun scene) and merge them into one awesome street festival.
    A person can dream…

So no LAAF this year, Bele Chere is no longer city funded after this year, Brewgrass is moving again, no more Health Adventure, the Grove Park Inn has been sold to new owners twice in the past year, our civic center has been re-named to honor some guy named Cellular, Raleigh owns our water, the NC GOP owns womens’ baby making parts, we rank 47 in education nationwide, we have the highest rents in the state that local wages don’t keep up with, continual allegations of wrongdoing against the APD but…whatever. Boring!

Are you guys ever gonna to a write up about that new artisan deep fried chutney yogurt restaurant that just opened? I hear they’re going to brew their own kale beer too. My friend loved it and said they only play locally produced ukele-driven electronica music through the speakers too-
    go local!
