Pack’s Tavern celebrates 5th anniversary with a specialty beer and expanded menu

Pack’s Tavern is turning 5 and is celebrating the occasion by launching a specialty beer and expanding its menu thanks to a new wood-fired oven.

The beer, Pack’s Tavern ESB, has been crafted by Pisgah Brewing Company. An English version of pale ale, this ESB (Extra Special Bitter) is brewed with toasted malt for a deep copper color and toasty aroma. The authentic English Ale yeast balances the hops and provides an oaky ester.

The expanded menu will now include wood-fired pizza and grinders and is set to roll out with an Anniversary Celebration on Thursday, June 18. Some of the pizzas offered will include a Margherita, a Wild Mushroom and a BBQ Chicken. Gluten free and veggie options will also be available. Grinders will include a Tuna Melt, a Hot Italian and a Veggie.

Pack’s Tavern, located in the historic Hayes & Hopson building adjacent to Pack Square Park in downtown Asheville celebrates five years in business with the launch of a specially beer, Pack’s Tavern ESB, and an expanded menu which keeps Pack’s favorites, but adds pizzas and grinders from a new wood-fired oven. Locally owned and operated, Pack’s Tavern opened in 2010 after rehabbing and restoring one of Asheville’s oldest buildings. Winning a Griffin Award for period restoration, Pack’s has been serving locals, tourists, tour groups and businesses for over five years. The large dining rooms have made Pack’s Tavern popular for large group lunches and dinners and a popular sports viewing venue, while the patio offers three seasons of park side dining. The Century Room on the Park, a second floor event space has hosted countless weddings, wedding receptions, non-profit gatherings and corporate dinners.

Pack’s Tavern management decided to expand their already popular menu of appetizers, burgers, fish and chips, pasta and specialty entrees to include wood-fired pizza and “grinders”, hot sandwiches from the wood-fired oven. The oven has been installed and the new menu is set to roll out with an Anniversary Celebration on June 18. Among events planned for the June 18 Anniversary Celebration will be live music in the evening featuring Jeff Anders and Jason Whitaker, pizza specials and drink specials including Pack’s Tavern ESB, a drawing for a Pack’s Corn Hole game set and free birthday cake. A percentage of the day’s sales will go to benefit Food Connection, a local organization that connects surplus food from restaurants to organizations that feed the homeless, aged and low-income populations.
