Buncombe County taking applications for emergency food, shelter program funding

Buncombe County has been awarded $90,273 of Federal funds to supplement emergency food and shelter programs. The funds were made available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/ Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. Buncombe County was selected by a National Board chaired by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency along with nonprofit partners.

UNC Asheville Summer Buzz Breakfast continues July 21

The Leadership Asheville Summer Buzz Breakfast Series continues July 21, with a panel discussion, Asheville’s Direction, featuring Mayor Esther Manheimer, UNC Asheville Chancellor Mary K. Grant and The Collider CEO Bill Dean. Jim Stokely, president of the Wilma Dykeman Legacy, will moderate the panel. The Summer Buzz Breakfast Series is presented by Ward and Smith, P.A. as a way to explore Asheville’s issues, meet community leaders, and get a taste of the Leadership Asheville experience.

APD seeks help identifying female

The Asheville Police Department would like to request public assistance in identifying the female in the photo below. She is not a suspect in a case but we believe she can provide valuable information on the identities of individuals responsible for multiple motor vehicle breaking and entering cases, as well as an Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle case (16-016126) that occurred on June 30, 2016 along New Leicester Highway.
