Pan Harmonia announces October concerts

PRESS RELEASE FROM PAN HARMONIA:

Pan Harmonia, Asheville’s own chamber music company, offers a mosaic of concerts, educational residencies and community outreach. We love bringing our signature mix of chamber music masterpieces and new works to as many listeners as possible through informal performances and adventurous programming. Directed by flutist Kate Steinbeck, this award-winning repertory company has been nationally recognized for its artistic excellence and creative vision.

October Pan Harmonia Concerts
Iconic North Carolina harpist, Jacquelyn Bartlett, joins flutist Kate Steinbeck in performances throughout the region in October. They will be playing music of Romantic French composer Gabriel Fauré, Americans Lowell Liebermann and Alan Hovhaness as well as Brazilian master Osvaldo LaCerda and Polish original Witold Lutoslawski.

A champion of chamber music, Ms. Bartlett has worked with some of this generation’s most well-known composers such as George Crumb, Alberto Ginastera, Dan Locklair and George Rochberg, and she continues to bring new compositions to the concert stage. She currently is a member of the Artist Faculties of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Research has shown that the harp, the oldest stringed-instrument, and the flute are very effective at relaxing the mind. These instruments are known to aid the brains to synchronize with the musical beats causing alpha brianwaves, which are present when we are relaxed and conscious.

The duo will appear in Lenoir, Chapel Hill and Greenville, SC with an Asheville appearance on Friday, October 14 at 5:30 pm in a house concert in a downtown loft. Experience a “sound bath,” let the music carry you away along with a delicious glass (or two) of wine. Tickets for this special concert are $30 plus tax (includes wine and light food) and will only be sold in advance. Purchase online from Pan Harmonia. www.panharmonia.org or send a check to Pan Harmonia, PO Box 18342, Asheville, NC 28814. The venue address will be sent upon receipt of ticket payment.
