Pedestrian safety rally set for Jan. 24 at corner of Merrimon and Coleman avenues

Organizers announced via Facebook that they’re holding a Jan. 24 rally at the corner of Merrimon and Coleman avenues to draw attention to pedestrian safety issues. It begins at noon.

Here’s their message via the “5 Points for Pedestrian Safety” Facebook event:

The hazards of crossing Merrimon – caused mainly by a crosswalks that are impractical and too easy for drivers to ignore – were brought into dramatic focus on January 8th when a pedestrian lost her life just trying to get across Merrimon at Coleman.

Join us for this protest to draw the attention of drivers – and the city – to much needed safety issues!
