Renaissance Asheville teams up with Bee City USA to celebrate “Pollinator Week” June 16

Buzzed About Bees!

On June 16th, Renaissance Hotels kicks off their 5th Annual Global Day of Discovery. 160 Hotels, 35 Countries, 24 hours of Local Events.  Check out the hidden Discoveries Renaissance Asheville has in store as it takes part in this global event!

Asheville, NC, June 16, 2016Join Renaissance Asheville Hotel, (renaissanceasheville.com)  and 
Bee City USA, (beecityusa.org) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the Renaissance Global Day of Discovery and Taste of Pollination Celebration.   Help kick off “Pollinator Week” in Asheville as we gather on the outdoor patio to learn more about Asheville’s connection with these remarkable pollinators!
As part of the fun, enjoy activities including:

    

  • Live music from Queen Bee and the Stingers, with lead singer Terri Lynn Queen, backed by a group of talented musicians from western N.C. They will have you dancing to their fun blend of classic rock.
  • Try the “R-Stinger” from the cash bar. A portion of the proceeds from the “R-Stinger” will be donated to  the Center for Honeybee Research.
  • Learn about a day in the life of a Renaissance rooftop bee from “Honey” the Queen Bee, narrated by Asheville’s own Kat Williams.
  • Talk to the professionals about bees and other pollinators including Carl Chesick with the Center for Honeybee Research, Ina Warren of MakeWayForMonarchs.org, Bee City USA representatives, Ricky Manning, master bee hotel builder and Matt Willey, founder of The Good of the Hive initiative.
  • Learn about local products with featured vendors, such as artists Moni Hill (4×4 for Wild) and Brittany Tantura (Art Brat), nature photographer Sophia Phillips Knoll, Janet Peterson with Bee Babes Body Products, and seed bombs with Sow True Seeds.
  • Take home a souvenir portrait of you and your friends, provided by TapSnap.

The fun continues in the lobby from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for Evenings at Renaissance, featuring Honey Holler.  The “Bee-Tini” cocktail will be featured in the Lobby Lounge with a portion of the proceeds from purchase of this drink being donated to Bee City USA.
