Monday through Thursday, July 18-21 at noon, acoustic musicians from across the foothills will perform free concerts on the Maple Street Plaza, across from the clock tower in downtown Tryon. Country and folk artists Fayssoux McLean and Brandon Turner will perform on Monday. Local favorites and PacJAM instructors Phil & Gaye Johnson will perform on Tuesday. Saluda-based Americana artist Aaron Burdett will perform Wednesday, and Blue Studio will perform acoustic blues on Thursday.

Friday afternoon, the students and teachers of PacJAM wrap up a week of summer camp with a public performance at the Tryon Fine Arts Center at noon. The community is invited to attend and support aspiring young musicians as they explore traditional Appalachian music.

The Roots Music Festival comes to a close with a special benefit concert on Saturday, July 23 at 7pm at the Tryon Fine Arts Center. The impressive lineup of regional musicians includes the Battleaxe Band, Blue Ridge Rounders, Scott Huffman, the Arrowood Sisters, and Phil & Gaye Johnson. Donations will be taken at the door, and a silent auction will raise funds for PacJAM programming throughout the year.

“The Roots Music Festival allows us to support local artists and traditional music,” said Tryon Fine Arts Center Executive Director Marianne Carruth. “By collaborating with the Tryon Downtown Development Association to hold the concerts downtown, we’re reaching out to a new audience.”
