Season’s at Highland Lake announces new executive chef

PRESS RELEASE from Season’s at Highland Lake:

(Wednesday, October 21, 2015 – Flat Rock, NC) – Season’s at Highland Lake and Highland Lake Inn & Resort announces the arrival of Steve Boeger as their Executive Chef.  The son of German immigrants and first generation American, Boeger grew up in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

His love for food and cooking began early in his life.  His grandpa had sausages, hot dogs, laundjaeger, and other proteins shipped to American from a German butcher close to the family. Watching his grandpa’s work and love for what he was doing not only excited Boeger, but brought him much closer with his family.

Chef Boeger began his professional culinary career at The American Bistro and Bakery in Asheville, he later moved to Philadelphia to work as the Executive Sous Chef for a premier catering company, and later becoming a Personal Chef lasting over four years.

When he and his fiancée decided it was time to come home to Western North Carolina, he accepted the position of Executive Chef at The Venue in Asheville. “We are so excited to have Steve join the Highland Lake Inn & Resort family!  He will bring a creative and energetic flavor to our outstanding restaurant!” says Jack Grup, owner and general manager of Highland Lake Inn & Resort.

He now joins the Season’s at Highland Lake family and is thrilled to work with local farmers who share his same philosophies. He supports the garden to plate movement and is happy to have access to the restaurant’s onsite organic garden. Chef Steve said “Like the esteemed French chef Auguste Escoffier, I believe that ‘Good food is the foundation of genuine happiness.’ ”
