Shane Perlowin’s Open Letter Music Series at the Double Crown

Local guitarist/Ahleuchatistas member Shane Perlowin brings his Open Letter Music Series to the Double Crown (375 Haywood Rd., West Asheville) on Mondays in August. 7-9 p.m.

From a press release:

Every Monday in August at the Double Crown will feature new and experimental jazz coming out of Asheville. The concerts will be from 7-9pm.

Century Seconds is the latest manifestation of guitarist/composer Shane Perlowin’s beneficent muse. It is a culmination of years of creative music making with his band Ahleuchatistas, pure sound explorations, free improvisation, and just rocking out generally. This new music sees Perlowin returning to some of his inspirational roots, in its driving rhythmic complexity and melodic richness, but with a dirtier bluesier edge. Think Ornette Coleman meets Tom Waits meets Sonny Sharrock meets everybody. Century Seconds features Daniel Iannucci on bass, Micah Thomas on drums, Steve Alford on alto clarinet and Shane Perlowin on Guitar.
