Silver River Center for Chair Caning will be featured on UNC-TV April 7

PRESS RELEASE FROM Silver River Center for Chair Caning:

Silver River Center for Chair Caning will be featured on UNC-TV’s North Carolina Weekend on Thursday, April 7 at 9pm. Silver River Center for Chair Caning is the nation’s only chair caning school and museum and is located in CURVE Studios & Garden in Asheville’s River Arts District.

Proprietors Brandy Clements and Dave Klingler opened Silver River in April 2015 after caning chairs for 11 years. Often referred to as a “dying art,” Clements and Klingler are working to revive the craft of seat weaving and chair caning through the school and museum. The museum features examples of historical chairs, chairs by famous designers, and rotating exhibits of woven chairs, while the school offers classes from beginner to advanced for all ages.

Silver River also offers commissioned chair caning repairs and restored chairs for sale. Restoration and class fees along with chair nerd tshirts and stickers help keep the museum FREE for public. They are open 10-6 Monday through Friday, 11-4 on Saturday and are kid and dog friendly.

Tune in Thursday April 7 at 9pm to UNC-TV’s North Carolina Weekend to learn more about Silver River Center for Chair Caning or visit their website at silverriverchairs.com.
