SMT: Bryson City federal courthouse to close

After having a presence in Bryson City for 40 years, the federal courthouse is closing.

It’s departure from Main Street will leave about one third of the building vacant. Swain County is interested in taking over the courtroom and office space for the court staff, said county manager Kevin King.
