SoCon tip-off party benefits the YMCA

From a press release:

The 2012 SoCon Basketball Tournament Tip Off Party will be held at Asheville’s US Cellular Center Banquet Hall on Friday, March 2, from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the YMCA of Western North Carolina’s Healthier Communities Campaign.

This all-inclusive event will celebrate the return of SoCon basketball to Asheville and feature music by Sons of Ralph, food by Asheville’s independent restaurants, wine by Biltmore Winery, and local brews by Highland Brewing Company.

The SoCon basketball games will be streamed live from the floor of the ExploreAsheville.com Arena into the celebration. A silent auction will be held during the party. Items to bid on include sports memorabilia, Southern Conference team jerseys, Western Carolina Football season tickets family pack, gift baskets of local Asheville favorites, and much more.

Another way the SoCon tournament supports the local community is through the Champions of Tomorrow program designed to provide an opportunity for at-risk youth and teens to attend the weekend of basketball. In alignment with their Social Responsibility, TD Bank, a SoCon sponsor, is donating its allocated tickets to the YMCA of WNC. The Y will distribute the game tickets to youth in YMCA programs who are at risk due to economic, behavioral, or academic challenges.

Tip Off Party Tickets to benefit the Y’s Healthier Communities Campaign will be available at the door for a suggested donation of $20.
