Although the Bywater’s outdoor atmosphere usually meanders along at approximately the same pace as the bar’s closest neighbor the French Broad River, patrons’ adrenaline will be pumping on Sunday, June 21. At 3 p.m., the Battle of Bywater: Summer Solstice Water Balloon Fight commences, and organizers say this year’s event will beat the previous record balloon count of 4,000 balloons by several thousand.

Musical accompaniment comes from Celtic band Piper Jones and His Merry Band, while Metal Mikes culinary busking will provide the edibles. Plus, several vendors and a face painter round out the evening’s attractions.

The Battle of Bywater is free for all ages and skill levels. Visit the event’s facebook page for more information.
