“The Gift of the Magi and Other Heartwarming Tales” at ACT, Dec. 6

From a press release:

“The Gift of the Magi and Other Heartwarming Tales” at ACT, Dec. 6

On December 6th at 10 am, Bright Star Theatre of Asheville will perform their production of The Gift of the Magi and Other Heartwarming Tales at Asheville Community Theatre. This holiday comedy has been seen by hundreds of audiences nationwide and the actors for this production will be visiting The National Theatre in Washington D.C. later in December.

In creating this production, Bright Star scoured the globe for three short stories that celebrate the spirit of the holidays. In O’Henry’s tale The Gift of the Magi audiences experience the true meaning of generosity; putting others first. From the Indian folk tale The Drum, the power of giving is brought to the stage. Bright Star’s rendeition of the classic story, Stone Soup brings to life the value of sharing and helping others. The Gift of the Magi and Other Heartwarming Tales features high energy audience interaction and a comic duo with a flair for story telling. The Gift of the Magi and Other Heartwarming Tales is one of the many productions Bright Star has performed at ACT over the years. The group performs regularly for ACT’s Saturday Series and partners with ACT to provide Student Matinees to local schools. The group will also be performing their productions of Happily Ever After and American Tales and Tunes on Saturdays at ACT in the spring of 2015.

David Ostergaard founded Bright Star twelve years ago; in that time it has grown to become one of America’s most reputable children’s theatre companies. They offer a variety of curriculum-based programs ranging from Professor Parsnip’s Lab of Healthy Choices to Heroes of the Underground Railroad. The company serves nearly 1,000 audiences every year in schools, theaters, libraries, museums and more across the country. Information about their shows, including videos, study guides and more is available online at www.brightstartheatre.com.
