Along with the finalized sale came a donation of three additional acres, which the nonprofit plans to use for orchards, livestock and an education center. See the full details below.

Press release

The Lord’s Acre is now 3 acres! No — make that 6!

Due to a very generous loan arranged by State Representative John Ager (through the McClure Fund and Community Foundation of Western North Carolina), The Lord’s Acre has now paid off the prior owner of its seven-year-old garden along and received the title to it and the surrounding three acres!

Fairview’s own hunger garden originally had only three years to come up with all the money needed to buy out the previous owner. Now the organization no longer has a financial axe hanging over its head and will be much more able to focus its main energies on helping each other through gardening!

Plus, now that he’s paid off, the owner has agreed to donate three more acres to the group, making six acres that TLA now has available for orchards, poultry, berries, small livestock, individual plots, an education center and more.

It’s a great day for Fairview’s grow-it-and-give-it-all-away garden!

While reading this post and conimg across the name Allison Glock, I thought “That’s the woman who helped Clay write his book”. She had also previously written a very nice article about Clay in a magazine (I don’t remember which one). I had no idea about who her current husband is. It’s a small world, and this site always helps us connect with the most interesting facts.
