The Malpass Brothers to peform at UNC Asheville’s Concerts on the Quad June 29

When it comes to reviving the sounds of old-time country music of the 1950s, The Malpass Brothers, Dan MacIntosh, from Roothog Radio, says “These guys don’t just sound retro. They are retro.”

The country duo will perform for the UNC Asheville’s Concerts on the Quad series Monday, June 29. This will be the third show in the new season of Concerts on the Quad, a longtime fixture of Asheville’s summer calendar that is being revived after five years on hiatus thanks to the financial support of community partners Asheville Citizen-Times and Mission Health.

The concert will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the UNC Asheville Quad and is free to the public and attendees are invited to bring chairs, blankets and picnics to enjoy along with the music.

Smoking, alcohol and pets are not permitted.

The Malpass Brothers Bring Traditional Country Music to UNC Asheville Concerts on the Quad on June 29

UNC Asheville’s Concerts on the Quad series will continue with a performance by traditional country duo The Malpass Brothers at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 29. Reviving the sounds of old-time country music of the 1950s, “these guys don’t just sound retro. They are retro” (Dan MacIntosh, Roothog Radio).

The Malpass Brothers have toured with legendary country musician Merle Haggard and shared billing with Ray Price, Willie Nelson, Rhonda Vincent, Marty Stuart and Doc Watson. Doyle Lawson, a 2012 Bluegrass Hall of Fame inductee who produced The Malpass Brothers’ new album, says, “Man, they play real country music.”

The group’s performance is the third show in the new season of Concerts on the Quad, a longtime fixture of Asheville’s summer calendar that is being revived after five years on hiatus thanks to the financial support of community partners Asheville Citizen-Times and Mission Health.

The free concert will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the UNC Asheville Quad. Attendees are invited to bring chairs, blankets and picnics to enjoy along with the music. Smoking, alcohol and pets are not permitted.
