The Mountaineer: Attorney General warns state against recent phone scam

From The Mountaineer:

Attorney General Roy Cooper is warning North Carolinians against a recent common phone scam involving people who are claiming to be with the Internal Revenue Service. The callers claim that you owe back taxes and urge you or your lawyer to return the call immediately. When you do, they suggest that you pay what they claim you owe using your credit card — and they’re happy to take your payment right over the phone.
