UNC Asheville set to open two exhibits Sept. 30

Two new exhibitions, one by UNC Asheville’s art faculty and another by Asheville Printmakers, will open at UNC Asheville, with opening receptions taking place from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30. The Art Faculty Exhibition 2016 will show in the S. Tucker Cooke Gallery in Owen Hall, and the Asheville Printmakers Exhibition will be in the Owen Hall Second Floor Gallery. Two Exhibits – By UNC Asheville’s Art Faculty and Asheville Printmakers – To Open with Sept. 30 Receptions

Two new exhibitions, one by UNC Asheville’s art faculty and another by Asheville Printmakers, will open at UNC Asheville, with opening receptions taking place from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30. The Art Faculty Exhibition 2016 will show in the S. Tucker Cooke Gallery in Owen Hall, and the Asheville Printmakers Exhibition will be in the Owen Hall Second Floor Gallery. Both receptions and exhibits are free and open to everyone.

The Art Faculty Exhibition 2016 features works in varied media by the studio art faculty: Tamie Beldue, drawing and lithography; Robert Dunning, printmaking and drawing; Kathleen Hall, painting and drawing; Michael Iauch, drawing; Scott Lowrey, drawing; Jackson Martin, sculpture; Brent Skidmore, wood sculpture; Carrie Tomberlin, photography; Eric Tomberlin, photography; Robert Tynes, painting; Matt West, sculpture, ceramics; Megan Wolfe, ceramics. This exhibition is open through Oct. 26.

The Asheville Printmakers are an informal group of local artists using techniques ranging from relief printing such as woodblock, linocut, and wood engraving, to intaglio methods such as drypoint, etching, collagraph and photogravure. Presenting artists in this show include Bobbi Allen, Dona Barnett, Kristalyn Bunyan, Fred and Kato Guggenheim, Maria Epes, Clay Harmon and Kristen Necessary. This exhibition is open through Oct. 14.

Viewing hours for the Owen Hall galleries are from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays. For more information, visit art.unca.edu.
