UNC Asheville Announces Faculty Promotions, New Faculty

UNC Asheville welcomes five new faculty members to campus this fall. They are: Curt Butera, assistant professor of Classics; Lyndi Hewitt, assistant professor, Sociology; Jackie Langille, assistant professor, Environmental Studies; Tiece Ruffin, assistant professor, Education; and Wiebke Strehl, associate professor and chair, Foreign Languages.

In addition, a number of faculty members have received promotions. Promoted from associate professor to full professor are: Brian Butler, Philosophy; Samuel Kaplan, Mathematics; Jeffrey Konz, Economics; Douglas Miller, Atmospheric Sciences; Karin Peterson, Sociology; Scott Walters, Drama. Promoted from assistant to associate professor are: Elena Adell, Foreign Languages; Cynthia Canejo, Art; Blake Hobby, Literature and Language; Michael Neelon, Psychology; Melissa Smith, Psychology.

UNC Asheville has 210 full-time faculty members; 84 percent hold terminal degrees.
