UNC Asheville will host the grand opening of Hyannis House, a resource center for students that have been affected by sexual assault, or who identify as LGBTQ, women, and allies, from 4 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, at 24 Hyannis Drive, near the UNC Asheville campus.
Serving as a safe space for UNC Asheville students, Hyannis House will provide resources, sexual assault education and prevention, as well as programming that promotes education and awareness of LGBTQ and women’s issues. The Hyannis House will be open to students Monday through Saturday from noon – 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and will be available for ongoing education and prevention workshops, special events, and training sessions as needed throughout the academic year.
Hyannis House is sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs at UNC Asheville under the guidance of the Department of Multicultural Student Programs, and in collaboration with student organizations Feminist Collective, Speak Up, Alliance, and Intervene.
