The Waynesville Gallery Association is excited to present Art After Dark on Friday, September 6th. Art After Dark transforms Downtown Waynesville into an exquisite visual, culinary and performing arts center. With cool weather upon us, it is a perfect night to explore a wide breadth of talented artisans and craftspeople. Festive Art After Dark flags denote participating galleries, such as Main Street Artist’s Co-op, Earthworks Gallery, Grace Cathey Sculpture Garden and Gallery, Haywood County Arts Council’s Gallery 86, Jeweler’s Workbench, TPennington Art Gallery, Twigs and Leaves Gallery, Cedar Hill Studios, and the Village Framer.
Native to Waynesville and longtime resident, with a South Carolina stint to own a gallery, acrylic painter Melissa Enloe Walter will be demonstrating at Twigs and Leaves Gallery for Art After Dark, Friday evening, September 6, 6-9PM. Melissa has developed a unique painting technique using transparent layers of acrylic paint over gold and silver leaf in which she created a collaboration of art, “Forest Spirit Illuminated”, featured the month of September in the gallery. Friday evening, as you stroll through the gallery’s 145+ primarily regional artists, enjoy piano music and delight in the savory hors d’oeuvres. The Haywood County Arts Council’s Gallery 86 presents Contemporary Traditions, an exciting mix of artists and mediums. The show will feature the work of Norma Bradley, Robert Gardner, Bob Martin, Fleta Monaghan, Roger Parramore, Akira Satake, Corina Pia Torii & Tadashi Torii. This is a show you don’t want to miss! Contemporary in flavor, several well known artists from Asheville’s River Arts District will be showing wonderful new works. Also showing is Tadashi Torii a master glass blower who was featured in the August edition of The Laurel of Asheville. Tadashi Torii and Corina Pia are new residents to Haywood County. The exhibit will run from Sept. 5–Sept. 28 with an Artist reception on Art After Dark.
