Wind advisory in effect for WNC

Friday the 13th threatens to bring strong winds and colder overnight temperatures to WNC counties. The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Buncombe, Graham, Haywood, Macon, Madison, Northern Jackson, Southern Jackson, Swain and Transylvania Counties until 6:00 am Saturday, November 14. According to the National Weather Service a wind advisory means that “winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult…especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.”

In addition, frost and freeze conditions may develop, with an overnight low of 28 expected in the Asheville area.  Area residents may wish to bring protect gardens and bring inside any indoor plants.
