Fatal West Asheville fire this morning – UPDATED

Fire Officials confirm there was a fatal fire this morning on Logan Avenue in West Asheville.

The Asheville Fire Department was dispatched to 86 Logan Avenue around 8 a.m. this morning. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, but found a body of a man in bed. Police and Fire officials have identifyed the victim as 54-year old Michael Willingham, the owner of the residence.

Investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
