WNC artists featured in new airport art exhibit

Waiting for a plane? Here’s one way to spend your time at the Asheville Regional Airport: Checking out the newest art exhibit. The show, Locality, features the work of local artists and is on display through Sunday, June 7.

Locality, the newest Art in the Airport exhibit at Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) is now open through June 7, 2015. The theme of this show reveals that your location is part of your interpretation. From sculpture to canvas, this exhibit is a dimensional experience.This unique display exposes the onlooker to multiple mediums and textures including steel, bronze, linen and acrylic. The Locality exhibit features nine artists residing and working in the western North Carolina region. There are multiple pieces on display, each carefully selected to illustrate the theme. The works of art are displayed in a way to both showcase them individually and as a whole. “The art gallery is truly a way for both the passengers and public alike to experience a taste of our region,” said Alexandra Bradley, Marketing and Public Relations Specialist at AVL and curator of the gallery. Artwork can be purchased from the gallery by emailing art@flyavl.com. Artists who reside in any of the eleven counties within AVL’s primary service market may apply for acceptance into upcoming exhibits.
