Food Network films at Ultimate Ice Cream tonight

Food Network is in town, and its producers are on the lookout for pork … at an ice-cream shop.

Ultimate Ice Cream serves house-made, brown-sugar and maple-bacon ice cream. Co-owner Lucia Barnes says Food Network producers contacted the store after hearing about their product. “They’re featuring how the South handles pork, and they want to taste the bacon ice cream,” she says.

While Barnes hasn’t spoken directly with the producers, her co-owner and husband, Kevin, got confirmation that the film crew will come to the Tunnel Road location this evening, Tuesday, Jan. 15, around 5:30 or 6 p.m. She says she’d like to have a full store for the shoot, so she hopes plenty of Ultimate Ice Cream fans will brave the cold and rainy weather.

The television show in question is slated to feature Justin Warner, who recently won Food Network Star with help from celebrity-chef mentor, Alton Brown. The show in production has a working title of Justin’s Excellent Adventure, Brown said in an October interview with food website, yumsugar.com.

Ultimate Ice Cream is located at 1070 Tunnel Road and 197 Charlotte St. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
